About the foundation

About Us

A non-profit from Hapoli caring for the fields, the knowledge and the community life that Apatani heritage was built on.

Our story

Why Heritage Care Foundation began

Heritage Care Foundation is a non-profit organisation established to preserve traditional heritage, promote sustainable agriculture and support community development in Arunachal Pradesh.

Across the valley, paddy fields that once fed families have been left idle. With every abandoned plot, a piece of the traditional Apatani paddy-cum-fish system — and the knowledge that comes with it — is at risk of being lost.

The foundation was incorporated on 13 July 2026 as a Section 8 company, with its registered office in Hapoli, Lower Subansiri District. Our primary focus is reviving the paddy-cum-fish system, restoring abandoned paddy fields and encouraging double cropping to strengthen rural livelihoods and food security.
